The Brief

Tickbox were commissioned to develop a new website for the international conservation charity WWT (Wildfowl and Wetland Trust)

The site needed to support nine regional centres across the UK, with a total of more than 1 million annual visitors, as well as promote the charity's conservation work, provide support for staff and engage and grow their large online community.

Our Work

Following extensive strategic planning, we designed and developed a user-friendly website driven by our powerful but easy-to-use Hummingbird Content Management System.

The site includes high levels of automated user customisation, with content tailored to users' location and choice of favourite centre.

Additionally, the site is fully integrated with all the charity's social media platforms allowing easy sharing of content across all platforms.

The modular CMS also allows total customisation of content and applications across the site, giving WWT the ultimate in flexibility.

One of the most powerful features of the CMS is the ability to use it to create mini-sites. Within the CMS, WWT can create new website on their own URLs which can include any of the complex functionality available in the main site.

For a charity which frequently runs stand-alone campaigns, this means the freedom to support these campaigns with their own powerful website without the usual development costs - making for a significant long-term saving to the charity.

The CMS also needed to be simple to use, and have fully customisable user access to allow staff across the organisation to easily update their own areas of the website.
